Our new author Susi Briggs and artist Ruthie Redden are really looking forward to taking part in the second Big DoG children’s book festival in Dumfries from March 23rd to 25th. They’ll be leading the popular Toon Trail starting at Waterstones in the town centre at 1pm on Saturday 24th March. This interactive story trail features Nip Nebs (Jack Frost) himself as he searches for speeder webs, icy draps and pixies in Dumfries town centre. Join him along with storyteller Susi and illustrator Ruthie for a fun hour following the trail around the toon, discovering the joy of Scots words as you go. This is a free event and suitable for the whole family.
Named after Nana, the large dog who looks after the children in Peter Pan, the Big DoG is an exciting family festival for Dumfries. Over the three days the town plays host to a series of great book related events for children, with readings and activities by some of Scotland’s leading authors and storytellers including Vivien French, Renita Boyle, Alan Windram, Ross Collins, David MacPhail, Lari Don and Chae Strathie.
