We’re delighted to announce that illustrator Shalla Gray has started creating the pictures for a new book written by Jayne Baldwin. The story will be the third in the Beltie series and will feature not only Big Bill the Beltie Bull but also the Beltie Bairns – Bertie and Buntie, and some very cheeky sheep who look like they might belong to Charlotte, the sheep who went looking for her fleece all over south west Scotland! So it’s a bit of a Curly Tale party! The book has the working title of Big Bill and the Larking Lambs and we’re hoping to launch in May. Here’s a glimpse of one of the paintings Shalla is working on. For the illustrations of this book she’s working again in watercolour to capture the distinctive Galloway landscape. Jayne’s written the story about a dreich day, a Scots word meaning miserable, damp and gloomy weather, so that’s proving to be a bit of a challenge for Shalla, but she’s up to the task as you’ll see.
