We’re delighted to be taking part in the Spring Book Festival in Wigtown, Scotland’s National Booktown. We’ve previously launched two of our books at the annual event thanks to Fiona Murphie and her lovely bookshop The Box of Frogs. Well that lovely bookshop is now under our management and has been transformed into Curly Tale Books. So this year we’re thrilled to be playing host to three authors as well as showcasing our new book which is due to be launched at the beginning of June.
The fun starts in grand style with the fabulous Renita Boyle who will be previewing her new book Honk Honk Rattle Rattle which features amazing illustrations from Mike Abel. Renita is well-known as a silly songstress and storyteller and her events are always such a laugh. She’ll be at the shop to talk about her hilarious campervan caper on Saturday 30th April at 10am.
Later on Saturday we have Frank English who will be travelling up to Wigtownshire from Lancashire. Frank is a retired teacher turned successful children’s author and he is an inspiration to the seven plus age group in terms of books and writing. He will be enthusing about reading and his magical adventure stories at 4pm.
Sunday kicks off with Rolf Buwert another storyteller from Thornhill in the east of Dumfries and Galloway. His new book Haggis Hunting – A short History features illustrations from Shalla Gray. Rolf will be entertaining everyone with his stories at 10am.
We round off our programme with a sneak preview of our new book Big Bill and the Larking Lambs. This is a new Benyellary Farm story featuring characters from Big Bill the Beltie Bull, Big Bill’s Beltie Bairns and Charlotte’s Woolly Yarn. Written by Jayne Baldwin and illustrated by Shalla Gray this tale sees two new lambs try to cheer up a dreich day by playing a trick on old Bill. Find out what happens at 4pm.
