Busy Times at Curly Tales

We’ve been really busy with our publishing and with our lovely shop in Wigtown but here’s a quick catch up of what we’ve been up to. The delightful author Julie Bowmaker visited the shop recently to read from her book ‘Tales of Fantasy and Magic’ which features illustrations by Margaret Walty. All the proceeds of the book go to Alzheimer Scotland.

The following weekend we welcomed author and illustrator Amanda Sunderland and her little dog Ash who is the inspiration behind her new picture book ‘Wee McAsh to the Rescue.’ Amanda read from the book and signed copies. She will be appearing at the Wigtown Book Festival at the Booktown Bookshelf event on Friday 30th September at 5.30pm details here

We spent a very jolly day firstly at Wigtown Show where we made our now famous sock Belties, and at the World Galloway Cattle Conference in Gretna where we discovered just how far our books have travelled – lots of Australian Beltie herd owners were already familiar with our books, which is just amazing. They all went away with copies of our new title, Big Bill and the Larking Lambs. We’ll be officially launching our book with an event at the Wigtown Book Festival, you’ll find us at 11.30 am on Sunday 25th September. You can book tickets through the Book Festival  link mentioned earlier. We’ll be having lots of fun as usual with a reading of the story plus activities and building a lunkie hole!
