We had a great time this week at a book launch by the new children’s publishing department of Edinburgh based company Birlinn. They were launching their first book written by Dumfries poet and writer Tom Pow. The event was held at Moat Brae, a Georgian town house in Dumfries that inspired JM Barrie to write his famous book Peter Pan. The new book by Tom draws on that connection, explaining how the young Barrie’s games in the garden with his friends led, in later years, to his creation of the boy who never grew up. There was a lovely exhibition of the illustrations created for the book ‘Sixteen String Jack and the Garden of Adventure’ by Ian Andrew. We found the whole experience very inspiring.
